Maha: FDA seizes 5,385 kg of Mawa worth Rs 16.52 lakh in Dhule ahead of Ganesh Festival

Dhule, Sep 22 (UNI) The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has stopped the transportation of 5,385 kg of mawa powder, allegedly being transported from Ahmedabad to Akola for the preparation of sweets during the Ganesh festival. The consignment was intercepted in the Morane area with the assistance of Dhule Taluka Police.
The FDA seized 13 varieties of mawa manufactured by different companies, with a total estimated value of Rs 16.52 lakh. The luxury vehicle carrying the consignment was also taken into custody, and its driver and cleaner were detained for questioning.
The FDA had received information that a large quantity of mawa was being transported from Ahmedabad towards Akola ahead of the festival. Acting on the information, officials, with the help of the Taluka Police, intercepted an Ashok Leyland luxury vehicle, Welcome Luxur, in the Morane area.
The seized mawa samples have been sent to the Experimental School laboratory for testing. Officials said further action would be taken after the test reports are received.
Those detained in connection with the case have been identified as Jagdish Manji Patidar, Mahendrasinh Parvatsinh Rathod (driver), and Rajkumar Roshanlal Acharya (cleaner).
The action was carried out under the guidance of FDA Joint Commissioner Mangesh Mane and Assistant Commissioner Gopal Mahore, along with Food Safety Officers Anand Pawar, Arvind Raut and Mangesh Bhavsar, and Dhule Taluka Police personnel including Police Sub-Inspector Khakida Saiyyad, Satish Kothawade and Pankaj Patil.
