BMC's 14-feet demolition drive to make 1.5 lakh homeless: SP MLA Rais Shaikh

Mumbai, Sep 20 (UNI) Samajwadi Party MLA Rais Shaikh today asked the BJP to clarify its stand on the BMC's plan to demolish slum structures taller than 14 feet and said the civic body's drive, starting October 1, could affect around 39,000 families.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has said it will run a special drive from October 1 to December 31 against unauthorised slum structures that are 14 feet or taller. The civic body has identified 39,111 such structures across Mumbai.
As per BMC data, there are 2,23,150 slum structures in Mumbai. Of these, 39,111 have been identified as 14 feet or taller. This includes 3,348 in the city, 4,536 in western suburbs and 31,227 in eastern suburbs.

Kolhapur, Sep 28 (UNI) A man was killed on the spot while his wife was seriously injured when a speeding car hit their motorcycle, on the Vadgaon-Hatkanangale road at Vadgaon in Hatkanangale tehsil of this district today.
According to Vadgaon police, Deepak Ravsaheb Shinde, a resident of Miraj town in Sangli district, was returning home with his wife Aashadevi after meeting a relative when a speeding car rammed their bike after the car driver lost control on the wheel.
