Maha: Sushil Karad, 2 others booked under serious offences in Solapur

Solapur, Nov 3 (UNI) A case involving 14 serious offences, including attempt to murder and provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, has been registered against Sushil Valmik Karad of Parli, along with Anil Munde and Gopi Ganjewar, at the MIDC Police Station in Solapur.
The case was registered as a Zero FIR following a woman's complaint and her prolonged legal battle seeking police action.
According to the complaint, the woman's husband was employed by Sushil Karad as a marketing manager and computer operator. The woman had started a transport business after purchasing two vehicles on loans and had also bought a plot of land in Parli Vaijnath. She alleged that Karad assaulted her husband over these businesses and property-related matters.
The complaint further states that on May 6, 2024, her husband was confined in an office and assaulted at gunpoint, with a revolver allegedly being used to threaten him. The accused also allegedly seized the keys and documents of the vehicles.
On May 7, Karad and his associates allegedly entered the family's house, assaulted its members and threatened to kill them. The woman further alleged that they were forced to transfer a plot registered in their name to another person.
She also alleged that on May 17, 2024, she was compelled to sell gold ornaments and that the proceeds were taken by Karad. The accused allegedly obtained signatures on blank bond papers, cheques and other documents as well.
Following these incidents, the woman and her family fled to Solapur fearing for their lives. However, she alleged that they continued to receive abusive and threatening phone calls.
On June 15, 2024, Gopi Ganjewar, accompanied by five to six persons, allegedly visited the woman's residence in Solapur and threatened the family with dire consequences.
The woman said she had approached the Solapur Police Commissioner, Beed Superintendent of Police and the MIDC Police Station seeking action. However, no case was initially registered, prompting her to approach the court.
Through advocate Vinod Suryawanshi, she filed an application before the Solapur District and Sessions Court seeking registration of an offence and investigation. The court, however, returned the application, directing her to approach the appropriate court having jurisdiction.
Challenging this order, the woman approached the Kolhapur Bench of the Bombay High Court through advocate Ritesh Thobde.
Before the High Court application could come up for hearing, the MIDC police registered a Zero FIR against Sushil Karad, Anil Munde and Gopi Ganjewar.
The registration of the case has raised hopes for the woman that her allegations will now be investigated.
Advocates Ritesh Thobde and Vinod Suryawanshi represented the woman in the matter. UNI SP SS
