Nagpur teenage girl kills father with cricket bat after years of alleged sexual harassment

Nagpur, Oct 7 (UNI) A 17-year-old girl was arrested for allegedly killing her father with a cricket bat in Nagpur after enduring repeated sexual abuse and harassment by him for nearly two years, police said on Tuesday.
The incident occurred on Monday night within the jurisdiction of the MIDC police station.
According to police, the deceased, a 45-year-old daily wage worker, was addicted to alcohol and frequently picked quarrels with family members.
Investigators said he had allegedly been subjecting his minor daughter to inappropriate behaviour and sexual advances whenever he was intoxicated.
On the night of the incident, the man allegedly returned home drunk and found his daughter alone.
He is accused of again behaving inappropriately with her and assaulting her when she resisted his advances, police said, citing the girl's complaint.
During the ensuing confrontation, the teenager allegedly struck him twice on the head with a cricket bat.
The man collapsed and died at the scene, police said.
Police said the girl, apparently shaken by the incident, attempted to wipe away blood stains inside the house and did not immediately alert authorities.
She later contacted police shortly after midnight, following which she was taken into custody and booked for murder.
The minor was subsequently produced before the Juvenile Justice Board, which ordered her placement in a remand home in neighbouring Amravati.
