Fake Kurash certificates racket unearthed in Pune; 500-600 suspected beneficiaries under scanner

Pune, Sep 7 ( UNI) A major racket involving the alleged preparation and sale of fake proficiency certificates in the Kurash sport to enable candidates to avail themselves of the five per cent sports quota in government jobs has been unearthed by the Pune Police Crime Branch.
According to the preliminary investigation, fake Kurash certificates were allegedly sold for between Rs 3 lakh and Rs 5 lakh each, with around 500 to 600 people suspected to have obtained such certificates. The Crime Branch has reportedly begun a detailed inquiry into nearly 70 of them.
A case has been registered at the Shivajinagar police station under various provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita pertaining to cheating, preparation of forged documents and their use. Two persons, identified as Shivaji Jaywant Salunkhe (49) and Ankush Vitthal Nagar (40), were arrested by police.
