Dipke calls for Tiranga march at Delhi's Connaught Place on Oct 16 after CJP leaders sent to Tihar

Nagpur, Oct 14 (UNI) Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke has called for a Tiranga march at Delhi's Connaught Place on Friday, October 16, in protest against the arrest of two party leaders who were remanded to five days of judicial custody for allegedly entering Jantar Mantar without authorisation.
Dipke appealed to citizens to assemble with the national flag at Central Park in Connaught Place at 5 pm on Friday.
He also urged people unable to travel to Delhi to organise similar marches in their respective cities.
Claiming that party leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka had been jailed merely for unfurling the Tricolour, Dipke asserted that displaying the national flag could not be treated as a crime.
In a post on X, he also voiced apprehension that he himself could face imprisonment over the protest call.
The arrests have triggered criticism from several opposition leaders, including Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal, DMK president MK Stalin and former Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
Delhi Police, however, maintained that the action was taken following alleged violations of peace bonds and concerns regarding public order.
The case relates to Tuesday's protest on October 13, when Das, Ranka and their associate Ajinkya Shinde were among 14 CJP members who allegedly crossed security barricades and entered the Jantar Mantar premises.
The demonstrators raised slogans against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and demanded his resignation over alleged irregularities in the Election Commission's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
According to police, the protesters entered the premises without permission and hindered personnel from performing their duties. Jantar Mantar had been denotified as an authorised protest venue on Monday, October 12.
The CJP, meanwhile, maintained that its members had reclaimed the protest site and their right to demonstrate, asserting that the national flag remained at the centre of their agitation.
