New course on data journalism in Ferguson

Pune June 23 ( UNI) With the aim of creating skilled manpower in two fields, data science and journalism, a postgraduate course on data journalism has been started at Ferguson College, said Principal Dr. Shyam Mude on Monday.
The new course has the background of both the importance of data science in the coming times and new opportunities in the media sector. This new course will emphasise both the skills in the field of data science and the political and social understanding required in the media sector.
This will create new employment opportunities in the field of data science and mainly in the media sector. Yogesh Parle, the coordinator of this course and Head of the Department of Media and Communication said that a student who completes this course will be employable in both the fields of data science and media.
This course, designed in accordance with the National Educational Policy, has a total of 40 credits and its duration is one year. UNI SP SSP
