IAC president welcomes Maha Govt's decision to address educational barriers faced by tribal students

Pune, Oct 28 (UNI) The decision of the Maharashtra government to address educational barriers faced by students belonging to Scheduled Tribes is welcome and will strengthen social commitment and educational equality, Hemant Patil, national president of India Against Corruption ( IAC) and an RTI activist, said on Wednesday.
Patil thanked Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Pawar for the decision.
According to a government resolution issued on October 26, the Tribal Development Department has issued directives to ensure that Scheduled Tribe students continue their education without facing unnecessary obstacles.
Students are provided education from Class I to XII through government-run and aided ashram schools and Eklavya Model Residential Schools offering English-medium education.
The government has directed the authorities to promptly submit proposals for upgrading ashram schools where the absence of secondary-level facilities is preventing students from completing their education from Class IX to XII.
Patil expressed confidence that upgrading these schools would directly benefit tribal students and help them continue their education.
