'UDAN' strengthens mental health services in Nagpur: Maha CM

Mumbai, May 25 (UNI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Sunday that the Nagpur district has taken a big leap in the field of mental health due to the UDAN initiative and this initiative will be a model for other districts in the country.
The district-level mental health programme UDAN has achieved remarkable success in Nagpur district and due to this initiative, mental health services have reached rural areas more effectively, he informed.
The UDAN initiative, launched by the Maharashtra government in collaboration with Tata Trusts in 2018, aims to increase public awareness of mental health, provide easy services in rural and urban areas, increase the number of psychiatrists, counsellors, provide treatment outside hospitals and provide specialised mental services, which are the objectives of the National Mental Health Policy, he informed.
