Maha: Patient carried 5 km on bamboo sling as lack of road cuts off access to hospital in Nashik

Nashik, Sep 14 (UNI) A 40-year-old patient from Hendmal village in Peth taluka of Nashik district had to be carried nearly five kilometres on a makeshift bamboo sling to reach a hospital after the lack of a motorable road prevented an ambulance from reaching the village.
The patient, a resident of Hendmal village under Surgana Gram Panchayat, developed sudden and severe pain in the abdomen and legs. With no proper road connecting the remote tribal settlement to the main road, emergency vehicles could not reach the village. Family members and villagers placed the patient on a bamboo sling and carried them for nearly five kilometres through difficult, hilly terrain before reaching the main road.
The ordeal did not end there. A government ambulance was not available in time, forcing the family to arrange a private vehicle to take the patient to the Government Sub-District Hospital in Peth. The patient is currently undergoing treatment and doctors said that the patient's condition is stable.
