Disha Salian's father serves Rs 500 cr defamation notice on Aaditya Thackeray, Anil Deshmukh

Mumbai, Sep 17 (UNI) Satish Salian, father of late celebrity manager Disha Salian, has served a Rs 500-crore defamation notice on Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray and former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh over alleged statements made by them in connection with his daughter’s death.
The notice seeks an unconditional written and public apology within seven days and warns that failure to comply would result in the initiation of civil and criminal defamation proceedings.
According to the notice, Satish Salian alleged that Thackeray had attempted to portray his campaign seeking justice for his daughter as politically motivated and intended to damage his reputation.
The notice described the alleged remarks as false, baseless and defamatory, contending that they cast aspersions on the integrity and intentions of a grieving father seeking a lawful investigation into allegations surrounding his daughter’s death.
It also disputed an alleged claim that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had previously investigated the case and given Thackeray a clean chit.
The notice referred to proceedings before the Bombay High Court on September 2, 2026, stating that the CBI had clarified that it had not conducted any previous investigation into the matter.
It further cited a statement attributed to Deshmukh on March 23, 2025, in which he had described the Disha Salian case as a conspiracy to defame Thackeray.
Satish Salian has sought publication of an unconditional apology across major print, television and digital platforms, besides a video apology of at least three minutes on the concerned official social media accounts.
The notice comes days after the CBI registered an FIR on September 14 following a Bombay High Court order directing a fresh investigation into Disha Salian’s death in 2020.
