Maha Yoga Day at historic Bibi Ka Maqbara grounds

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, June 17 (UNI) The historic courtyard of Bibi Ka Maqbara will serve as the focal point for Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district's main International Yoga Day observance this Saturday, district officials announced on Tuesday.

District Collector Dilip Swami issued a public appeal, urging local yoga institutions and fitness-conscious citizens to participate in large numbers for the event, scheduled to commence at 6:30 am.

The venue selection follows directives from the Union Ministry of AYUSH and the Ministry of Culture, which specifically encouraged organizing this year's Yoga Day celebrations at sites of historical significance. Accordingly, the iconic Mughal-era monument in the city was chosen.

The plans were finalized during a coordination meeting chaired by Collector Swami at the District Collector's office. The meeting saw participation from key officials including zilla parishad chief executive officer Ankit, deputy district collector (general administration) Sangita Rathod, district sports officer Bajirao Desai, district education officers (primary and secondary) Jayashree Chavan and Ashwini Latkar, municipal education officer Bharat Teengote, Dr SK Bhagat representing the Archaeological Survey of India, Government Technical Institute principal Aadesh Chinturjar, Government College principal Dr. Naval Thorat, sub-divisional officer Venkat Rathod, and district Yoga Association Secretary Suresh Mirkar, alongside office-bearers of various yoga organizations.

The programme will feature live demonstrations of yoga practices and group asana sessions. A highlight will be the live broadcast of a message from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. District public representatives and citizens are expected to attend.

Collector Swami further called upon all yoga and fitness organizations across the district to actively engage in the initiative, encouraging them to organize local Yoga Day events in their respective areas.
