Pune Metro records 48.32 lakh ridership during 12-Day Ganesh Festival

Pune, Sep 26 ( UNI) Pune Metro is increasingly emerging as a second lifeline for commuters, recording an unprecedented response from passengers during the Ganesh festival this year. As many as 48,32,915 passengers travelled by Metro during the 12-day period from September 14 to 25, 2026, generating revenue of Rs 7,49,28,377.
On the day of Anant Chaturdashi, when immersion processions were held across the city, 5,80,280 passengers used the Metro service during the 24-hour period from 6 am on September 25 to 6 am on September 26. The Metro earned Rs 85,61,895 in revenue during this period.
The passenger numbers have witnessed a significant rise over the past two years. During the Ganesh festival in 2024, the Metro recorded 20,45,100 passengers, while the figure rose to 37,17,578 in 2025. This year, the number reached 48,32,915.

According to Vadgaon police, Deepak Ravsaheb Shinde, a resident of Miraj town in Sangli district, was returning home with his wife Aashadevi after meeting a relative when a speeding car rammed their bike after the car driver lost control on the wheel.
