Rohit Pawar targets Pune Police over MPSC row, announces idefinite sit-in from Sep 27

Pune, Sep 22 (UNI) NCP(SP) MLA Rohit Pawar on Tuesday stepped up his attack on the Maharashtra government and Pune Police over alleged irregularities in the MPSC examination, accusing authorities of intimidating students and coaching institutes supporting their agitation.
Pawar announced an indefinite sit-in protest from September 27 at SM Joshi Road in Pune and gave the government five days to address the protesters’ demands.
Announcing that the sit-in will begin at 10 am on September 27 at SM Joshi Road in Pune , Pwar alleged that the ruling dispensation has been shielding senior officials and the law enforcement is being used to suppress dissent.
“Whether it was the Commissioner himself or other senior officials, intimidation tactics such as sudden fire audits and structural audits are being used against coaching class operators simply because they supported the students’ agitation,” Pawar stated.
Highlighting the seriousness of the situation, the NCP(SP) leader said several coaching institute owners had already faced sudden fire-audit inspections. However, he asserted that the opposition would not be silenced.
Pawar clarified that the upcoming protest would be a peaceful sit-in (dharna), not a hunger strike, as protecting the health and well-being of participating students remained a priority.
He gave the government a five-day ultimatum to accept the protesters’ legitimate demands, while warning that the duration of the agitation would remain open-ended.
Pawar further claimed that he has received fresh and “watertight” documentary evidence related to alleged corruption dating back to the tenure of the official concerned as an RTO Commissioner. He said the evidence would be submitted directly to the Chief Minister.
Pawar added that if the state government adopted a positive approach and fulfilled their demands within the next five days, the protesters would publicly felicitate the Chief Minister.
