52-Year-Old Health Worker Runs 90 Km Barefoot to Protest and Press Clearing Pending Demands

Nandurbar, Oct 27 (UNI) She is no marathon runner, but undertook an arduous 90 km long run barefoot in the tribal dominated backward Nandurbar district of Maharashtra to make deaf ears hear.
In an unusual protest to draw the administration’s attention to long-pending demands of health workers, 52-year-old B.T. Padvi, a health employee from Akkalkuwa taluka, ran nearly 90 km barefoot from Jamana village in the Satpura hills to the Nandurbar Zilla Parishad office.
Padvi undertook the arduous journey to protest the administration’s alleged apathy towards the demands of Zilla Parishad health workers, malaria control staff and contractual employees under the National Health Mission (NHM).
