Satej Patil-led Congress panel wrests control of Gokul dairy in setback to Mahayuti

Kolhapur, Oct 20 (UNI): In a setback to Maharashtra's ruling Mahayuti alliance, the panel led by senior Congress leader and MLC Satej alias Bunty Patil won 13 of the 25 seats in the election to the Kolhapur District Cooperative Milk Producers' Union, popularly known as Gokul, while the ruling alliance secured 12 seats.
The results were declared late Monday night after a closely contested counting process marked by objections and demands for recounts.
Patil, who is the Kolhapur district Congress president and the party's group leader in the Maharashtra Legislative Council, led the Rajarshi Shahu Shetkari Samvichari Aghadi, which narrowly defeated the Mahayuti panel comprising the BJP, the Ajit Pawar-led NCP, the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena and the Jansurajya Party.
