Tiger attack claims life of elderly man in Chandrapur

Chandrapur, Sep 16 (UNI): A 68-year-old cattle grazier was killed in a tiger attack in the Sawali forest range of Maharashtra's Chandrapur district on Wednesday afternoon, forest officials said.
The deceased was identified as Vasudev Laxman Wakudkar, a resident of the Nilsani-Pedgaon area.
He had gone into the forest in the morning to graze his cattle when a tiger, reportedly lying in wait, suddenly attacked him. He died on the spot.
On receiving information about the incident, forest department officials rushed to the spot, conducted a panchnama and initiated further investigation.
The attack has triggered fear among residents of villages located near the forest area.
The incident has once again highlighted the continuing challenge of human-wildlife conflict in Chandrapur district, which has witnessed several tiger-related fatalities in recent years.
