Southwest Monsoon advanced over some more parts of south Arabian Sea

Pune, May 17(UNI) Southwest Monsoon further advanced over some more parts of south Arabian Sea, Maldives and Comorin area; South Bay of Bengal, remaining parts of Andaman Islands and Andaman Sea; and some parts of eastcentral Bay of Bengal today, the 17th of May 2025.
Conditions are favorable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon over some more parts of south Arabian Sea, Maldives and Comorin area; some more parts of South Bay of Bengal; some more parts of central Bay of Bengal, and some parts of northeast Bay of Bengal during next 3-4 days.
Day Temperatures were markedly above normal (5.1°C or more) at isolated places over Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad; appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at isolated places over east Uttar Pradesh; above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at a few places over west Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh; at isolated places over east Madhya Pradesh, west Uttar Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal, Assam and Meghalaya, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, Kerala and Mahe, Saurashtra and Kutch, east
Rajasthan. These were markedly below normal (-5.1°C or less) at isolated places over Madhya Maharashtra, north interior Karnataka, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam; appreciably below normal (-3.1°C to -5.0°C) at isolated places over west Madhya Pradesh, Marathwada, Telangana, Rayalaseema, Gujarat Region; below normal (-1.6°C to -3.0°C) at a few places over Andaman and Nicobar Islands; at isolated place over south interior Karnataka, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim and normal over rest parts of the country. Yesterday, the highest maximum temperature of 46.2°C was reported at Banda (east Uttar Pradesh) over the country.
Hailstorms were observed at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh.
Duststorm was reported at isolated places over east Uttar Pradesh.
Heat Wave conditions prevailed in isolated pockets of Jammu division.
Warm night conditions prevailed in isolated pockets of east Madhya Pradesh.
Rain or thundershowers have occurred at most places in Sub Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim and Andaman and Nicobar Islands and at many places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, and Vidarbha and at a few places in Telangana, Rayalseema, Tamil Nadu, coastal and south interior Karnataka and Kerala and at isolated places in Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh, east Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat region, Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, coastal Andhra Pradesh and north interior Karnataka. Mainly dry weather has prevailed in Punjab, west Rajasthan and Lakshadweep.
