IRGC declares itself prepped for prolonged war with US, says it has capabilities yet to unleash

Tehran, Sep 21 (UNI) The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared that it "has prepared itself for a long-term war" with the US and is now "more prepared than before," said its spokesman Hossein Mohebbi today.
Mohebbi described what he called a “historical and disgraceful defeat” for the US, arguing that Washington had suffered strategic setbacks in several areas, including its failure to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, vulnerabilities at its military bases and intelligence facilities across the region, and the performance of US military technology against Iranian capabilities, reported Iran’s semi-official Mehr News agency.
“America has not lost a war; America has lost a system,” Mohebbi said, claiming that the US had also suffered a loss of regional influence.
He said Iran was now helping shape what he described as a new security order in the region.
“The war continues, and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has prepared itself for a long-term war,” Mohebbi said. “It was ready before, and now it is even more prepared for a long-term war.”
The IRGC also warned that any further US military action could lead to the conflict spreading to new areas.
"If another invasion is launched (against Iran), there will be significant changes in our defence and offence ... We will definitely change the war's geography," Mohebbi declared, saying "We will certainly introduce new weapons with new capabilities into the fray, and the world will be astonished.
"We have new targets that have not been attacked yet."
He added that Tehran was prepared for the nearly seven-month conflict to continue for a prolonged period.
The remarks came after US President Donald Trump said on Sunday that he was considering whether to resume more intensive military strikes against Iran or pursue a new diplomatic agreement to end the war.
Trump had previously warned that he could “annihilate” Iran’s Islamic Republic government with further action if he so wanted, though did not rule out diplomacy, signalling his willingness to meeting Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian this week on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.
