Russian drone strike on Dnipro Railway Station kills 14: Ukrainian officials

Kyiv (UNI) A Russian drone struck the main railway station in the central Ukrainian city of Dnipro on Thursday as passengers waited to board trains, killing 14 people and wounding 10, Ukrainian officials said.
The attack was part of a series of Russian strikes across Ukraine that killed at least 19 people on Thursday, including two 15-year-old girls, and wounded dozens more, authorities said.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy described the strike on Dnipro as “horrific” and called for tougher sanctions against Moscow.
“Sanctions against Moscow and its war machine must not be eased for as long as this Russian war continues,” Zelenskyy said in a social media post, offering condolences to the victims’ families.
Zelenskyy said two trains were at the station when the drone struck. Footage from the scene showed bodies on the platform, while local media reported that many of the wounded had suffered shrapnel injuries. Four people were undergoing emergency surgery, the head of the hospital treating the injured said.
The latest attacks also killed two teenage girls in the northern city of Chernihiv and three people in a Russian drone strike on a residential building in the Poltava region, authorities said.
The strikes come amid tensions over Washington’s approach to sanctions on Russia. US President Donald Trump earlier this month waived a series of sanctions related to Russian fossil fuel sales, drawing criticism from Kyiv, which has pressed for tougher restrictions on Russian energy exports.
Meanwhile, a separate ceasefire has been in effect since Tuesday in the Russian-occupied Ukrainian city of Oleshky to facilitate the evacuation of elderly and vulnerable civilians, according to reports.
The temporary truce, brokered by US first lady Melania Trump, is intended to allow evacuations and the delivery of essential supplies to residents who have been left without electricity, food and fresh water amid the fighting. The ceasefire is scheduled to remain in effect until 10:59 pm local time on November 1.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces struck a Russian military facility used to launch long-range attack drones against Ukraine overnight near Navlya in Russia’s Bryansk region, Ukraine’s General Staff said on Thursday.
The facility is located about 70 km (43 miles) from the Ukrainian border, the General Staff said.
The strikes damaged a storage facility for Russian Geran-type long-range drones, as well as fuel and lubricant storage facilities and the drone launch site, it said.
Ukrainian media and open-source intelligence groups have tracked Russia’s construction of several large airfields designed to support unmanned aerial systems in western regions of the country, according to the supplied report.
The extent of the damage and the impact on Russia’s ability to launch drone attacks were not immediately clear. There was no immediate comment from Moscow on the reported strike.UNI AAB
