Nepal FM Shisir Khanal bids farewell to Indian Ambassador Naveen Srivastava, expresses gratitude for New Delhi's aid to Kathmandu

Kathmandu, Sep 16 (UNI) Nepal Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal held a farewell meeting with India's Ambassador to the country Naveen Srivastava, on Wednesday, with the two discussing the progress of, and prospects for, Nepal-India relations.
Khanal congratulated Srivastava on completing his tenure and praised his contribution to strengthening and expanding bilateral ties.
The foreign minister highlighted progress in energy cooperation, trade, infrastructure and connectivity, along with the close people-to-people links between Nepal and India.
He also thanked the Indian government for its solidarity with Nepal and its swift assistance with search, rescue and relief operations following the devastating flash floods in the Bhotekoshi River. The floods, triggered by an ice-rock avalanche near the Nepal-Tibet border on August 26, left nearly 1,400 people dead and more than 5,000 missing, according to Nepal's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Khanal wished Srivastava success in his future assignments and expressed confidence that he would continue to remain a friend of Nepal.
Srivastava, in turn, thanked the Nepal government for its support and cooperation throughout his tenure. He expressed confidence that relations between New Delhi and Kathmandu would deepen further and become more prosperous in the coming days.
