Investigation on into third party involvement in FlyDubai incident, if so 'they will pay a heavy price': Netanyahu

Jerusalem, Oct 2 (UNI) Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Friday that authorities were investigating whether the FlyDubai co-pilot accused of attempting to crash the TelAvivi-bound flight with 174 people on board could have been "dispatched" by some third party, or was just an individual attempt, vowing that if there was a third party who sent him then they would "pay a very heavy price."
The co-pilot of the flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv had stabbed Captain Smit Machchhar and tried to crash the plane before being restrained by a group of passengers after the injured captain managed to open the door.
"As time passes, the picture is becoming clearer; the attacker underwent Islamist radicalization. He came to crash the plane with its passengers," Netanyahu said, adding, "We are investigating whether he was dispatched, and whoever sent him will pay a very heavy price."
Israeli officials are expected to question the copilot accused of attempting to crash the commercial passenger flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv, according to a source familiar with the probe.
The copilot was transferred to the UAE on Thursday, where Israeli officials are expected to question him, reports Times of Israel. The source did not identify which Israeli agency would be involved.
An Israeli government official said Israeli investigators would participate in the UAE-led inquiry alongside Emirati authorities. They will seek to establish what happened and examine the suspect's motives and background.
The UAE Foreign Ministry did not immediately respond to a request for comment on whether Israeli officials would question the copilot.
The UAE state news agency reported on Thursday that authorities had opened an investigation to establish the circumstances and motives behind the incident and determine whether it was linked to terrorist activity, involved prior planning or had been directed by others.
Anwar Gargash, an adviser to UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed, described the alleged attempt to crash the flydubai flight to Tel Aviv as an "act of terrorism" in a post on X.
