US, Japan, South Korea unveil implementation plan for SMRs exports, industry giants ink $150 bn European nuclear pact

New York, Sep 23 (UNI) The United States, Japan and South Korea announced an "Implementation Plan" to advance their joint push to export small modular nuclear reactors (SMRs) worldwide, deepening a trilateral pact signed in Ankara earlier this year as Washington and its allies race to expand global nuclear energy capacity.
The announcement came on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York, following a trilateral ministerial meeting between the three countries. The State Department said the new plan builds on the "Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) on Small Modular Reactor (SMR) Deployments in Other Countries," which the three nations signed on July 7.
The agreement, the department said, "supports our mutual security interests by setting out an ambitious agenda in pursuit of SMR fleet deployment to meet growing global energy demands."
