Trump could launch nuclear strike on Iran within days, claims Tucker Carlson

Washington, Nov 2 (UNI) US conservative commentator Tucker Carlson has claimed that the Trump administration could be days away from authorising a nuclear strike on Iran, alleging that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is pressing President Donald Trump to target an underground nuclear facility in central Iran.
In a lengthy post on X , Carlson identified the potential target as Pickaxe Mountain, where Israeli intelligence allegedly believes Iran has resumed nuclear enrichment activities.
Carlson, a former Fox News host who now runs an independent political programme on X, said conventional US weapons might be unable to penetrate the estimated 300 feet of granite protecting underground tunnels at the site, raising the possibility of nuclear weapons being considered.
"Bibi (Netanyahu) calls Trump about it every day," Carlson quoted an unnamed source as saying.
Carlson's claims follow Trump's remarks to reporters at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida on Saturday that one or two Iranian nuclear facilities remained potential targets and that US forces could strike them within 10 minutes.
Trump specifically mentioned Pickaxe Mountain, saying the United States had military plans for the area, but did not indicate that a nuclear strike had been authorised.
"You probably could look at Pickaxe Mountain, you have to take care of that. We can do that all very quickly," he said.
Trump had explicitly ruled out using nuclear weapons against Iran in an October 16 interview with Newsmax.
Carlson alleged that Netanyahu has been pushing for renewed military action partly because of his domestic political difficulties, claiming the Israeli prime minister needed US support to secure a 61-seat majority in the Knesset and avoid losing power and facing legal investigations.
Carlson further claimed that Netanyahu has urged senior US officials, including Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth and US Central Command chief Admiral Brad Cooper, to resume major combat operations against Iran.
He also alleged that Secretary of State Marco Rubio and CIA Director John Ratcliffe were supporting Netanyahu's position.
Carlson said US allies in the Middle East are gravely concerned about a renewed conflict with Iran. Also, Netanyahu had secretly travelled to Abu Dhabi on September 27 to seek UAE support for a final military operation against Iran, but Emirati officials had refused.
Warning of the potential economic consequences, Carlson said months of conflict had damaged Gulf economies and disrupted global energy and fertiliser markets. He also claimed that 11 of the world's approximately 850 oil supertankers have been badly damaged in the Strait of Hormuz during October.
He warned that a nuclear explosion at Pickaxe Mountain could spread radioactive contamination across the Gulf region and threaten water supplies relied upon by around 100 million people.
Carlson also argued that any US nuclear strike could trigger wider nuclear proliferation and escalation, potentially encouraging Russia to use nuclear weapons against Ukraine, renewing nuclear tensions between India and Pakistan, and prompting North Korea to attack Seoul.
"After the first nuclear strike, World War Three is inevitable. That war would be short and final," he wrote.
He further alleged that the Trump administration had quietly revised US nuclear doctrine since February to make the first use of so-called battlefield nuclear weapons easier.
Carlson claimed Trump could decide by November 7 whether to authorise nuclear weapons against Iran, although Vice President JD Vance and US special envoy Steve Witkoff have been urging the president to pursue a diplomatic agreement with Tehran.
As it seams negotiations would be difficult but Iranians appear to pursue an agreement and avoid further conflict.
Meanwhile, Iran has denied nuclear activity at the Pickaxe Mountain complex, while its supreme leader has warned Washington and Tel Aviv against launching further attacks.
