Saint Paul, Oct 22 (UNI) US Congresswoman Ilhan Omar has denied allegations of immigration fraud in her first interview since federal agents searched her residence last week, saying she believes the operation was intended to appease allies of President Donald Trump.
Speaking to MS Now on Wednesday, the Minnesota Democrat rejected longstanding claims promoted by Trump allies and right-wing commentators that she had entered a sham marriage with her brother and falsified details in her immigration paperwork.
Omar said the allegations about her brother originated on a Somali blog before gaining traction among right-wing conspiracy theorists in Minneapolis.
