US wants future Iran talks focused on nuclear programme, not Hormuz: CNN

Washington, Sept 14 (Sputnik/UNI) The administration of US President Donald Trump has informed Persian Gulf nations that, in upcoming talks with Tehran, Washington intended to focus on Iran's nuclear programme rather than on resuming shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, CNN reported citing sources.
According to three sources, Trump administration officials privately told Gulf nations that they want to focus future US-Iran talks on Tehran's nuclear programme rather than on opening the strait, the broadcaster said.
On February 28, the US and Israel began striking targets in Iran, prompting retaliatory strikes from the Iranian side. In mid-June, Tehran and Washington signed a memorandum to cease hostilities, though they subsequently exchanged strikes again. At present, the conflict remains unresolved.
