Trump and NYC Mayor Mamdani share notably cordial conversation

New York, Sep 22 (UNI) US President Donald Trump and New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani struck a surprisingly warm note on Monday during their third in-person meeting, with both agreeing to step up discussions over a major affordable housing project in Queens.
The two also concurred on deepening talks regarding Mamdani’s proposal to build 12,000 affordable homes on a deck over Sunnyside Yard, a large rail complex in Queens.
“They’ve been talking about developing that for 50 years. So maybe they have a shot at doing it,” Trump said during a briefing after the meeting, which took place ahead of his UN General Assembly engagements.
