Trump administration mulls halt to work permits for asylum seekers - Reports

Washington, June 4 (UNI) The administration of US President Donald Trump is looking into ways of preventing migrants with pending asylum claims from getting permits to work in the United States, CBS reported citing two Department of Homeland Security (DHS) officials.
US law currently allows immigration officials to grant work permits to migrants if their asylum claim cases have been pending for at least 180 days.
The Trump administration is now considering a regulation that would suspend the issuance of new work permits to asylum-seekers until US Citizenship and Immigration Services decide all asylum claims within an average of 180 days, two DHS officials told CBS on Tuesday.
