Newly released photos reveal massive damage across US military installations in West Asia after Iranian strikes

Washington/Tehran, Sep 16 (UNI) Newly released photographs have revealed the extent of damage to buildings, vehicles and military equipment at several US positions across West Asia following Iranian missile and drone attacks.
The images were provided to CBS News by active-duty service members who spoke on condition of anonymity because of strict military restrictions on the media.
"This is major damage to our bases that hasn't been communicated to the American public," one deployed service member told CBS News. "We're standing there with our eyes closed getting punched in the face."
One photograph taken at Prince Sultan Air Force Base in Saudi Arabia shows what appears to be a direct hit on the rear section of a Boeing E-3 Sentry. The aircraft's tail was severed from its charred fuselage, which carried a rotating radar system used for airborne intelligence gathering.
Other photographs from the base show buildings and barracks reduced to hollow shells. They stand beside largely intact concrete "T-wall" structures, which had been viewed as important protection against grenade and mortar attacks but offered little protection against the aerial strikes.
Similar damage was documented at Camp Buehring in Kuwait, a major staging area for US Army troops, armoured vehicles and some aircraft. The base is located in a remote desert area northwest of Kuwait City.
A new report released this week by the US Defense Department's inspector general found that the war in Iran had resulted in equipment losses valued at up to $3.7 billion, including nearly 60 aircraft.
The mandatory report to Congress also said CENTCOM had reported Iranian strikes on American military positions in Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Oman and Jordan.
The Pentagon did not respond to a request for comment.
"These are not 'squirters' getting through," the service member said, referring to language used by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth after the March 1 attack on Port of Shuaiba in Kuwait, which killed six US troops.
"We're not defending these bases. We're just watching them get destroyed."
