Nitish gets relief from Patna High Court in disrespecting National Anthem case

Patna, June 18 (UNI) Patna High Court today granted relief to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in a complaint case lodged against him in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate for disrespecting the National anthem.
Justice Chandrashekhar Jha while hearing a petition filed by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar against the complaint case filed in court of Chief Judicial Magistrate of Begusarai and also notice issued to him in connection with disrespecting national anthem case, quashed the complaint case and related notice issued to him.
The Court found that first class judicial magistrate Mayank Kumar Pandey, who was in-charge Chief Judicial Magistrate issued notice to Chief Minister Kumar in the case, ignoring legal provisions as available under sections 223 and 226 of BNSS. Accordingly, the entire complaint, proceedings and notice issued to Chief Minister Kumar, stood quashed.
Vikash Paswan, a native of Begusarai, had filed a case in the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate of the district, alleging that Chief Minister Kumar was seen in "Pranam Mudra" and also talking to a person standing next to him when national anthem was played during inauguration of World Cup Sepak Takra on March 20, 2025.
Vikash had claimed in his petition that he had seen Kumar disrespecting the National Anthem during the event organised in Patliputra Sports Complex and it was telecast by news channels.
