New Delhi, May 20 (UNI) Senior Congress leader Salman Khurshid on Tuesday said the recent understanding between India and Pakistan was a result of direct dialogue between the two nations, with no interference or mediation by anyone.
"There was no interference or mediation but when such a thing happens in the world, people try to send some message or try to say," the former External Affairs Minister told media after a high-level briefing by Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri.
He further emphasised that the initiative was from the Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) of Pakistan.
"They said that let us finish this and we said that if you want to end this then we are also ready," Khurshid said.
The Congress leader also said that there is a difference between domestic politics and international diplomacy.
"Politics within the country is our right, our duty; it is different. But, what we have to say outside the country is different,” he asserted.
Salman Khurshid is a member of the all-party delegations that will carry forth to the world India's strong message of zero-tolerance against terrorism.
