NPRD seeks better RTC facilities for persons with disabilities

Hyderabad, Oct 8 (UNI) The Telangana State Committee of the National Platform for the Rights of the Disabled (NPRD) staged a protest at RTC Bus Bhavan on Thursday, demanding better travel facilities and implementation of reservation provisions for persons with disabilities.
Former Nalgonda MLA Nandyala Narsimha Reddy, who addressed the protest, alleged that persons with disabilities were being neglected and demanded that reserved seats in RTC buses be strictly allotted to them.
NPRD leaders demanded free travel facilities for all persons with disabilities, concessional passes across all 21 categories recognised under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, wheelchair-accessible facilities in all types of buses and implementation of four per cent reservation in RTC recruitments.
They also sought reservation of shops in RTC shopping complexes for persons with disabilities and acceptance of concessional passes on all buses operating in the Greater Hyderabad region.
RTC Executive Director Venkanna assured the delegation that the demands, including free travel, would be brought to the notice of the State government.
He also assured action on reserved seats, wheelchair lifts, concessional passes, shop reservations, backlog vacancies and implementation of the four per cent reservation quota.
