Number of people detained during May Day demonstrations in Paris exceeds 50 - Minister

Paris, May 2 (UNI) The number of people detained during the riots at the May Day demonstration in Paris has exceeded 50, French Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau said.
"More than 50 arrests were made," Retailleau told the BFMTV broadcaster on Thursday.
In total, law enforcement officers detained 72 people across France, the report added.
"At the moment, there are six law enforcement officers who received minor injuries: four gendarmes and two police officers," Retailleau said.
According to the minister, 32,000 people took part in the May Day demonstration in Paris. At the same time, 157,000 people took part in demonstrations across the country, the broadcaster reported, citing Interior Ministry data.
However, France's leading trade union, the General Confederation of Labour (CGT), said that 300,000 people had taken part in demonstrations across the country, 100,000 of whom had attended the rally in the capital.
