Odisha accelerates industrial growth, approves 63 project proposals for land allotment

Bhubaneswar, Nov 5 (UNI) In a significant step towards strengthening its industrial landscape and attracting fresh investments, the Odisha Government has approved 63 project proposals for land allotment, paving the way for new industrial ventures, expansion of existing units and increased employment opportunities across the state.
The approvals were granted at a meeting of the Land Allotment Committee on Thursday, which cleared 55 land allotment proposals along with eight projects related to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
According to official sources, the decisions are expected to facilitate the establishment and expansion of industrial units, strengthen industrial infrastructure and create fresh avenues for investment and employment generation in Odisha.
The meeting was chaired by Usha Padhee, Additional Chief Secretary of the Housing and Urban Development Department and Chairperson of the Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO).
As part of its broader strategy to accelerate industrial development, IDCO has introduced several measures to simplify land allotment procedures, strengthen inter-departmental coordination and ensure time-bound decisions on investment proposals.
The approval of eight MSME-related projects also reflects the state's continued emphasis on promoting small and medium enterprises. These enterprises are considered important drivers of economic growth, innovation and employment generation.
To ensure faster processing of investment proposals, the Land Allotment Committee has adopted a revised mechanism under which meetings are now being conducted every month. This will enable regular consideration and timely clearance of land-related proposals.
In addition, IDCO has introduced a dedicated weekly grievance redressal mechanism to address issues and concerns raised by investors and entrepreneurs.
These initiatives are aimed at minimising procedural delays, improving transparency and strengthening the ease of doing business in the state.
Through streamlined approval processes and improved institutional coordination, Odisha aims to create a more investor-friendly environment and facilitate the timely conversion of investment proposals into operational industrial projects.
The latest approvals mark another step in the state's efforts to expand its industrial base, encourage entrepreneurship and generate new employment opportunities.
