Only bonafide Himachalis to be eligible for reclassified Group-C jobs: Cabinet Decision

Shimla, June 28 (UNI) In a major policy shift aimed at ensuring employment opportunities for local youth, the Himachal Pradesh Cabinet today approved the reclassification of pay matrix Level-11 posts from Group-B to Group-C.
The meeting was chaired by Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.
With this reclassification, only bonafide Himachali candidates will be eligible to apply for these posts.
Earlier, the Level-11 positions were categorised under Group-B and filled by the Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC), allowing applicants from across the country.
Following the change, the recruitment will now be handled by the Himachal Pradesh Rajya Chayan Aayog as per Group-C recruitment norms.
To provide economic relief to low-wage earners, the Cabinet also approved a hike in the monthly honorarium of Multi Task Workers (MTWs) under the Public Works Department from Rs 5,000 to Rs 5,500, benefitting nearly 5,000 workers across the state.
In a significant step to support dairy farmers, the Cabinet greenlit a new Milk Incentive Scheme. Under this, farmers supplying milk to eligible non-government dairy cooperative societies will receive a subsidy of Rs 3 per litre through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
The Cabinet also decided to relocate the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) office from Shimla to Dharamshala. This move aligns with the government’s earlier declaration of Kangra as the Tourism Capital and aims to reduce administrative congestion in Shimla.
Additionally, the Cabinet approved the creation and filling of 101 new posts in various categories for the Police Lines in District Police Dehra.
The decisions reflect the government's continued focus on promoting regional employment, rural livelihood enhancement, and administrative decentralisation.
