Parmar varsity student held for uploading video on social media promoting drug abuse

Solan, June 28 (UNI) The police today detained a student of Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry Nauni on the charges of provoking breach of peace and under the Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Act.
Giving details, Superintendent of Police Gaurav Singh said that an awareness campaign was organised on drug abuse and illicit trafficking in the University campus in which an Anti-Drug rally was also organised by the students and teachers and other officers, employees of University, on June 24.
The students of Nauni University were participating in this programme with full enthusiasm. When this rally was being organised, after the rally was over, someone uploaded a video on social media in which a student was making arguments, with misleading propaganda and using abusive language with other students concerning drugs and was inciting other youth to take drugs.

The SP said that when the said video was investigated, it was found that the youth Vishal Bhardwaj, who prepared and made the same video viral on social media, is a B.Sc. Hort. student in University. Investigations revealed that he is a final year student and this type of act by the said student, instead of stopping the increasing evil influence of drug abuse, is going to promote it more and more.
Singh said that such type of indecent language can inspire other students and youths to take drugs and this type of thinking can be very dangerous for the society.
On which the case has been registered against the accused student under section 352 BNS & 27, 28, 29 ND&PS Act at Police Station Sadar Solan. During investigation of this case, the mobile phone of the youth involved in the incident was seized and taken into police custody, which is being sent to State Forensic Laboratory Junga for examination.
The accused student Vishal Bhardwaj resident of Tehsil Nirmand, District Kullu is being questioned. Further investigation was in progress.
