Pakistani border post in Spin Boldak destroyed by Taliban in retaliatory strike post PAF airstrike

Spin Boldak, Sep 25 (UNI) A Pakistani border post in Spin Boldak district was reportedly destroyed in a retaliatory strike by Afghan Taliban forces following Pakistan's latest airstrikes in southern and eastern Afghanistan, as tensions between the two neighbours continue to escalate.
The Taliban's 205 Al-Badr Corps said it launched the attack after Pakistani forces shelled the Cargo area of Spin Boldak throughout Wednesday. Al Badr Corps spokesperson Nazir Ahmad Shakib said Afghan forces then carried out a counterattack against a Pakistani military position near the border.
Shakib claimed the post was completely destroyed and that Pakistani forces suffered "heavy casualties". The Taliban did not provide evidence to back its claim, while Pakistani authorities have not commented on the reported attack or acknowledged any casualties.
The reported retaliation followed Pakistani airstrikes early Thursday on targets in Kandahar, Khost and Paktia provinces. The Taliban government said four civilians were killed and accused Pakistan of violating Afghanistan's sovereignty. Pakistan said it had targeted 10 locations, claiming it had targeted terrorist camps and drone infrastructure, though did not back its claims.
Islamabad has repeatedly accused Kabul of giving shelter to fighters of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and its affiliated groups, claiming that the militants use Afghan territory for launching attacks inside Pakistan and has claimed that its recent strikes were aimed at destroying the alleged sites. Kabul has consistently denied allowing Afghan territory to be used for attacks against Pakistan.
The latest clash comes just a few days after Pakistan carried out further strikes in Kunar and Paktika provinces. Pakistani authorities said 28 militants were killed, while Afghan officials and the UN reported three civilian deaths and four injuries.
Cross-border violence has intensified throughout 2026, with Pakistan and Afghanistan repeatedly accusing each other of supporting militant activity. The latest strikes and reported retaliation have further strained relations and added to concerns over the deteriorating security situation along the border.
