Pakistani LeT militant killed in encounter in Budgam's Yousmarg

Srinagar, Sept 30 (UNI) Security forces shot dead a suspected Pakistani Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist in an encounter in the upper reaches of Yousmarg in Jammu and Kashmir's Budgam district, officials said.
The encounter broke out late Tuesday after security forces launched a joint search operation in the Korag area of Yousmarg based on specific intelligence inputs.
The Army said that a joint search operation was launched by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and the CRPF in the general area of Korag, Yousmarg.
"Vigilant troops observed suspicious activity and, upon being challenged, terrorists opened fire, prompting a fierce exchange of gunfire during which one terrorist was neutralised. Operation is in progress," the Army's Srinagar-based Chinar Corps said in a post on X.
While the Army and police have not yet disclosed the identity of the slain militant, security sources suspect that he was a Pakistani national affiliated with the LeT.
This is the second encounter in the forests of Budgam this month.
On September 4, a Pakistani national identified as Yasir, who was affiliated with the LeT and had allegedly been active in Jammu and Kashmir for several years, was killed in an encounter in the high-altitude Ashdar Gali area of Budgam.
Security forces had suspected that another militant managed to escape during that encounter. Following the September 4 encounter, security forces intensified searches across the mountainous and forested terrain of Budgam to trace the suspected militant.
