Chandigarh, June 14 (UNI) Haryana State Election Commissioner (SEC), Dhanpat Singh said that the Panchayat elections and by-elections would be held on June 15 from 8 am to 6 pm.
He said general elections of the Panches, Sarpanches of Gram Panchayats, Badhra and Hansawas Khurd, Block Badhra, District Charkhi Dadri; Gram Panchayats, Badli, Mohammad Pur Majra and Faizabad, Block Badli, District Jhajjar and bye-elections of Sarpanches and Panches of Gram Panchayats; Members, Panchayat Samitis and Members, Zila Parishads in the State for the seats which have fallen vacant due to death, resignations, dismissal/removal or any other reasons, will held on June 15.
The bye elections were scheduled to be held on 829 seats of Panches, 81 seats of Sarpanches, 17 seats of Members of Panchayat Samitis and one member of Zila Parishad.
However, a large number of seats have been filled unopposed. Now general elections of Panches, Sarpanches of Gram Panchayats, Badhra and Hansawas Khurd, Block Badhra, District Charkhi Dadri; Gram Panchayats, Badli, Mohammad Pur Majra and Faizabad, Block Badli, District Jhajjar and bye elections for 56 Panches, 61 Sarpanches, eight Members of Panchayt Samitis and one seat of Member, Zila Parishad will be held on June 15.
He further said that proper arrangements have been made for conducting these elections in a free, fair, transparent and peaceful manner. Adequate police force will be deployed to maintain law and order and extra police force will be provided in sensitive and hyper sensitive areas.
He further appealed to the voters to participate in these elections in a big way to elect their representatives without any bias of caste/religion and without any fear or favour for strengthening democracy at the grass root level.
