Panchayat Secretary caught red-handed while accepting a bribe

Hyderabad, May 21 (UNI) In another case, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday caught a Panchayat Secretary from Gottumukkala Village in Nizamabad district red-handed while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 18,000.
The accused officer, Katkam Ganga Mohan, was apprehended around 12 pm when he allegedly demanded and accepted the bribe from a complainant in return for improperly allotting a house number and assessment number to an open plot, bypassing due procedures necessary for further registration.
Initially, the officer had demanded Rs 20,000, which was later negotiated down to Rs 18,000. The tainted amount was recovered from his possession during the trap operation, based on information provided by the complainant.
A chemical test confirmed the presence of the bribe traces on both of the officer’s hands and the left pocket flap of his trousers, which had come into contact with the money. The ACB stated that the officer had acted dishonestly and in violation of his official duties to secure an undue advantage.
The complainant’s identity has been withheld for security reasons.
The accused officer was being arrested and produced before the II Additional Special Judge for SPE & ACB Cases, Nampally, Hyderabad.
