Paradip Port Authority honors athletes and artists for stellar performance

Bhubeneshwar, Jun 26 (UNI) Paradip Port Authority (PPA) felicitated the remarkable achievements of its athletes and artists at Jayadev Sadan in the port township.
P. L. Haranadh, Chairman, PPA, presided over the felicitation ceremony on Wednesday evening presenting cash awards to 88 outstanding individuals who excelled in the All India Major Port Competitions held in 2024-25.
Chairman Haranadh lauded the awardees for their dedication, skill, and perseverance, highlighting them as shining examples for the community.
In his address, he emphasized the crucial role of active sports and cultural bodies in attracting and nurturing talent. "If the councils are strong, energetic, and vibrant," he stated, "they will definitely be able to attract many people to participate."
He further articulated PPA's commitment to fostering talent beyond its direct employees, explaining, "Now, what we are trying to do is we are trying to attract any talent, whether they may be the wards of the employees, or contractual employees, or in and around people who are interested. That's why we are supporting them. A lot of trainees have been included in each and every sport activity.” It is to be noted that Gopabandhu Kreeda Sansad has conducted Major Port Cultural & Football Meet, Sahani cup, Inter dept and corporate cricket, Paradip Half Marathon, Inter school cricket, children's athletic, Summer coaching camp during last calendar year.
A.K.Bose, Advisor, Traffic, H.S Rout, new President of GKS along with other Heads of Department of PPA graced the occasion. The ceremony commenced with a welcome address by Dr. D.P. Sethy, Working President of Gopabandhu Kreeda Sansad. D.N. Sondhi, outgoing President, GKS, delivered the vote of thanks. The evening's proceedings were expertly compered by Ranjan Rashmi Beura, Secretary, in association with Rabi Dash, Sports Consultant.

amount of Rs 65,000 for allegedly kidnapping and raping a minor girl

The youth ,wrongfully confined a 16-years old girl under Patakura Police Station limit in October 2024 and committed rape, Manoj Kumar Sahoo, the Special Public Prosecutor of Additional District Judge –cum-special judge (POCSO) said.
