Paradip Port’s MCHP sets new record with 1.40 lakh tonnes of coal loaded in a day

Bhubaneswar, Oct 12 (UNI) The Mechanised Coal Handling Plant (MCHP) of Paradip Port Authority (PPA) has set a new record by loading 1,40,022 metric tonnes of coal in a single day on October 10, surpassing its previous best of 1,37,500 MT achieved in May 2022.
The record-breaking performance was achieved through loading operations on two vessels, M.V. APJ Indrani and M.V. Ripley Pinnacle, marking an increase of 2,522 MT over the previous record set on May 29, 2022, through operations involving M.V. Arethousa and M.V. ISL Star.
Paradip Port Authority Chairperson Susanta Kumar Purohit, IRSEE, congratulated the workers, officers and personnel associated with MCHP for achieving the milestone. He lauded their dedication, teamwork and commitment to operational excellence, stating that the achievement reflected the collective efforts of the port workforce to enhance productivity and operational efficiency.
The record underscores MCHP’s cargo-handling capabilities and the effective coordination among port personnel in ensuring faster loading and efficient vessel operations. It also highlights PPA’s continued efforts to improve productivity, optimise infrastructure utilisation and accelerate cargo movement.
The achievement marks another step in Paradip Port’s efforts to strengthen its position as a major maritime hub on India’s eastern coast and advance towards becoming a leading mega port.
Paradip Port plays a significant role in the country’s trade and logistics network by facilitating the movement of essential bulk cargo. Improved cargo-handling efficiency is expected to further strengthen port operations and support the growth of India’s maritime trade.
