Patna candidate Sanjeev Kumar seeks probe into absence of CCTVs at teachers’ constituency counting hall

Patna, Oct 27 (UNI) Sanjeev Kumar, a candidate in the Patna Teachers’ Constituency election to the Bihar Legislative Council, today raised concerns over the apparent absence of CCTV cameras inside the vote-counting hall and sought immediate intervention by the election authorities.
In a written complaint to the Electoral Officer-cum-Divisional Commissioner, Patna, Kumar said he did not see CCTV cameras inside the counting hall when he entered the premises during the counting process, although cameras appeared to be installed at other locations.
He urged the authorities to immediately inspect the surveillance arrangements, verify the availability and operational status of CCTV cameras, and ensure compliance with applicable Election Commission guidelines.
Kumar also called for the preservation of any available CCTV footage relating to the counting process, along with records concerning camera functionality and any technical disruptions.
“Transparency and fairness are essential to the counting process. The authorities should immediately clarify the CCTV arrangements, preserve all relevant recordings and take appropriate action in accordance with the applicable rules,” Kumar said in his complaint.
He sought a written response detailing the findings of the inquiry and the action taken on his representation.
