Under PM Modi’s leadership, India is witnessing a new era of development: Yogi Adityanath

Varanasi, Oct 31(UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday said that Kashi holds a special place as the karmabhoomi of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, adding that India is witnessing a transformation under his leadership.
Addressing a programme at Banaras railway station to mark the inauguration of the Vande Bharat Sleeper Train, the Chief Minister also paid tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his birth anniversary, observed as National Unity Day.
"On the birth anniversary of Iron Man Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, it is a matter of pride for us to remember his invaluable contribution to building a united and strong India," Yogi said.
Highlighting the transformation of Indian Railways, the Chief Minister credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi and union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for accelerating railway modernisation and upgrading passenger facilities with advanced technology.
He said Indian Railways, which serves as a major mode of transport for ordinary citizens and senior citizens, is being equipped with modern infrastructure and improved amenities.
Comparing the present railway infrastructure with the situation before 2014, Yogi said previous governments have repeatedly announced development projects but failed to meet deadlines. He added that railway electrification across Uttar Pradesh has now been completed.
Describing the Vande Bharat Sleeper Train as a significant addition to the country's rail network, he said the modern service would make long-distance journeys more convenient by covering substantial distances in eight to nine hours. He added that providing passengers with better facilities at affordable fares remained a government priority.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the role of the Dedicated Freight Corridor, saying that separate tracks for freight trains have improved the speed, safety and timely movement of goods across the country.
Referring to future railway projects, Yogi said the proposed bullet train service would reduce travel time between Kashi and Delhi to around three-and-a-half hours. He added that the aim was to make high-speed rail travel more affordable than air travel.
He further said that 157 railway stations across Uttar Pradesh have been upgraded with modern facilities, offering passengers amenities comparable to those available at airports.
Taking a swipe at critics of development initiatives, the Chief Minister said the transformation of the country's railway infrastructure was visible in modern stations, upgraded tracks and improved transportation facilities.
Referring to the recent air show in Varanasi, Yogi said around 25 lakh people witnessed the event, which was organised at Namo Ghat, one of the country's largest ghats. He said determination and strong political will were essential to accomplishing major development projects.
The Chief Minister added that the new rail service was a special gift for the people of Varanasi ahead of the Diwali and Chhath festivals.
