People rejecting Cong controlled by fake Gandhi family: BJP

Bengaluru, June 26 (UNI) The Karnataka unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday launched a scathing attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and the party’s central leadership, accusing them of being unable to accept electoral defeats and continuing to mislead the public by targeting constitutional bodies such as the Election Commission.
In a strongly-worded statement posted on social media, the state BJP alleged that the Congress is still entirely controlled by what it termed the “fake Gandhi family,” and that this centralised and dynastic style of leadership is the primary reason why the Indian electorate continues to reject the party at the polls.
“The Congress has appointed a senior leader as AICC president only as a front. The real power continues to rest in the hands of the fake Gandhi family. The people of India are fully aware of this and are therefore turning away from the Congress in every election,” the BJP claimed.
The party also hit out at Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of repeatedly levelling baseless allegations against the Election Commission to cover up the Congress’s continued failures at the ballot box.
“Rahul Gandhi has made it a habit to question the integrity of the Election Commission every time Congress loses. However, the Commission has already clarified that elections have been conducted strictly in accordance with the law,” the statement read.
Taking its criticism further, the BJP accused the Congress of harbouring “anti-national thinking” and supporting policies that undermine India’s unity and security.
“Instead of blaming democratic institutions for its defeats, the Congress must give up its anti-national ideology, its open support for extremist elements, its extreme appeasement of Muslims, and its anti-Hindu stance,” the statement added.
The BJP said these factors, coupled with what it described as the party’s disconnect with Indian values and voters, were key contributors to its continued electoral decline.
There was no immediate response from the Congress to the BJP’s charges.
