Pilgrims buried in landslide on Yamunotri route, two bodies recovered

Dehradun, June 23 (UNI) Two bodies were recovered from the debris of a landslide that occurred on the Yamunotri pilgrimage route on Monday afternoon in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand.



Some pilgrims were buried under the debris. A Mumbai resident was rescued injured from the site. The bodies have not been identified yet.



According to the District Disaster Control Centre, Uttarkashi, the landslide occurred around 4:12 pm near 9 Kachi in Tehri Barkot.

An 118-member rescue team was dispatched to the site.

Reports from the revenue sub-inspector at the site suggest that 3-4 pilgrims might have been buried under the debris.



One injured pilgrim has been admitted to the Primary Health Centre in Janakichatti. Rescue operations are ongoing.
