PM Modi @76: From janmabhoomi to karmabhoomi, BJP’s mega outreach and show of strength with diyas, havans

New Delhi, Sep 17 (UNI) From individuals lighting an ‘Ashirwad ka Diya’ to top NDA leaders flagging off bike rallies and performing ‘havan, pujans’ to some impromptu celebration at an official event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi 76th birthday on Thursday saw the country celebrating his 25 years in public office.
The day also saw the opening session of SEMICON India 2026 briefly turning into a birthday celebration as PM Modi took the stage this morning. As the conference hall erupted in applause and ‘happy birthday’ greetings at the Yashobhoomi Convention Centre where he inaugurated the semiconductor industry conference, the Prime Minister smiled, acknowledging the gathering.
BJP supporters across the country offered prayers at temples and lit diyas for his long life. In Vadnagar, his janmabhoomi, union Home Minister Amit Shah and Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel launched the month-long ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ to mark his birthday and 25 years of public service. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and union Minister Anupriya Patel were also present as a Vadnagar-to-Varanasi bike rally was flagged off to spread the message of public service.
Highlighting the Prime Minister’s public life and the principle of ‘Nation First’, the Home Minister said that in over 25 years of continuous public mandate, not a single allegation of corruption or malpractice had been levelled against him.
In karmbhoomi Varanasi, his Lok Sabha constituency, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, TDP supremo and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and senior BJP leaders joined the birthday celebrations. A special ritual was also performed at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple. LJP leader and union Minister Chirag Paswan was also present as NDA leaders performed rituals and offered prayers.
BJP president Nitin Nabin, too, wished the Prime Minister saying that under his leadership the country is moving forward on the path of development and self-reliance and also advancing on the international stage.
The BJP has planned a month-long nationwide outreach titled “Seva Sankalp Abhiyan” from September 17 to October 17 to mark PM Modi’s birthday and 25 years in public service. One of the key initiatives was “Aashirwad Ka Diya”, under which BJP workers and supporters lit earthen lamps at homes, religious places and other locations. In several places large-scale lamp-lighting events were also held.
Coming ahead of key assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Goa and Manipur, followed by elections in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh in 2027, the BJP also aims to use the occasion to showcase his political legacy and welfare initiatives to mobilise party cadres and reinforce his leadership image.
Political analysts say the campaign also carries a strong political messaging, linking PM Modi’s personal journey from humble beginnings to national leadership. Through these mega events, the BJP is seeking to project his 25-year public career as a continuous commitment to “selfless service”, or ‘seva’.
The scale is also being seen as a strategic response to the recent public outreach by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, especially among Gen-Z, unorganised labour and youth. The BJP has also placed youth at the centre of PM Modi’s birthday campaign. The Abhiyan will highlight his commitment to public service and reconnect with people, especially youth.
“With upcoming state assembly elections and a re-energised opposition in Parliament, the BJP is using this month-long mega event to also mobilise its karyakartas. In politics, a silent cadre usually means advantage to the opposition. With upcoming state assembly elections, the aggressive outreach goals ensure that the BJP will dominate the media space and public squares, thus crowding out opposition,” analysts say.UNI VS AAB
