Bengaluru, May 18 (UNI) Former Prime Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) Member of Parliament HD Deve Gowda received warm birthday greetings from political leaders across the spectrum on Sunday, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi leading the wishes, lauding him for his statesmanlike approach and lifelong commitment to public service.

"Birthday wishes to our former Prime Minister, Shri HD Deve Gowda Ji. He is widely respected for his statesmanlike approach and passion towards public service. His wisdom and insights on several issues are a source of great strength. May he be blessed with a long and healthy life," the Prime Minister posted on social media platform X.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah also took to social media to extend his greetings, calling Deve Gowda a senior statesman who has rendered immense service to the country and the state. "Heartfelt birthday greetings to former Prime Minister Shri HD Deve Gowda avaru. May he be blessed with good health, long life, and continued service to the people," he said.

Senior BJP leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly, R Ashoka, along with other senior party leaders, visited Deve Gowda's residence in Padmanabha Nagar to extend birthday greetings in person. Ashoka garlanded the veteran leader and wished him a long and healthy life. "Happy birthday to the country's senior politician and former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda. I pray that God will grant him good health and longevity," he said.

State BJP President Vijayendra Yediyurappa described the former Prime Minister as an inspiration for future politicians, stating, "His long political experience and struggles are significant footprints in the history of the state and the country. His unwavering political activism, regardless of age, is truly inspiring."

"The contributions of Shri Deve Gowda Ji, especially his genuine concern for the rural populace, are symbols of spiritual prosperity for the children of the soil. I pray for his good health and continued guidance in public life," he added.

Veteran BJP leader and former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa also conveyed his greetings, saying, "Warm birthday greetings to the senior political leader, diplomat, and former Prime Minister, Hon’ble Shri HD Deve Gowda. I pray that God's blessings always be upon him.”

Deve Gowda, who served as the 11th Prime Minister of India from 1996 to 1997, continues to play an active role in national politics and remains a towering figure in Karnataka's political landscape.
