Telangana Minister launches free sewing training for women to promote financial independence

Mulugu (Telangana), May 18 (UNI) In a landmark initiative aimed at empowering women through self-employment, Telangana’s Women Development and Child Welfare Minister Dr Danasari Anasuya (Seethakka) inaugurated a free sewing machine training programme in Jaggannapeta village, Mulugu district, on Sunday.
The initiative, a first-of-its-kind in the state, is organised by the NGO Data Pro in collaboration with the Women's Development and Child Welfare Department.
Speaking at the event, Minister Seethakka emphasised the government’s commitment to making women economically self-reliant.
She said the government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, is working with the vision of turning one crore women into millionaires by promoting financial literacy and entrepreneurship.
Highlighting initiatives like the Maha Lakshmi free bus scheme and the women-owned bus leasing model with Telangana RTC, she said these programmes are steps toward achieving true women empowerment.
District Collector Divakara TS, IAS, and District Welfare Officer Kuchana Sirisha also addressed the gathering. They highlighted the 30-day training programme, supported by a Rs. 26.25 lakh fund benefiting 175 women, and underscored the importance of skill-building initiatives for rural women.
Minister Seethakka encouraged women to pursue self-employment with dedication and family support, noting that small beginnings like these can lead to successful business ventures.
The event witnessed participation from several officials, department staff, NGO representatives, and a large number of village women.
