PM Modi to visit Assam on Sept 8 to inaugurate country's first bio refinery

Guwahati, June 30 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit Assam on September 8 this year to inaugurate India’s first bamboo-based bio-refinery at Numaligarh Refinery.

Ahead of the scheduled visit, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today visited the refinery

at Golaghat district and took stock of the progress of the bio refinery.

Sarma also took stock of the Prime Minister’s proposed visit to Assam on September 8 when he will also dedicate the ethanol project to the nation.

The Assam Chief Minister also held a review meeting with the NRL functionaries with the Ministers, MP and MLAs and took note of the progress of bamboo based ethanol plant.

It may be noted that the bamboo based bio refinery is being built at an investment of Rs. 4000 crore at the Numaligarh refinery and it will be the nation’s first bio-refinery.

During the meeting the Chief Minister also reviewed the progress of the expansion of NRL.

The Chief Minister during his visit also inaugurated Dhansiri Nagar Township constructed for the refinery staff.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister during his visit also met the security personnel who were injured in

the grenade attack at Bokakhat at the circuit house of Bokakhat. He took note of the health

conditions of the injured personnel namely Siddhartha Borbora, Sushil Bhowmick, and Mintu Hazarika wished them a speedy recovery.
